The Automation Relay
Two teams, one workflow, zero talking. Members rotate at the keyboard every five minutes with no verbal handoff, the next builder has to read the canvas cold, guess the intent, and keep building.
It's a fun format, but it's really about a serious problem: most workflows are only ever read by the person who built them. This session puts that to the test live, showing what happens when someone else has to pick up where you left off with no explanation.
Expect some team building and maybe a bit of chaos, which is exactly what makes this race fun. Participate with your automation friends, or show up and join a team.
Note: participants will need to provide one laptop per team.
Takeaway
- Understand why readable, self-explanatory workflows matter more than clever ones
- See firsthand how easy (or hard) it is to interpret someone else's automation logic under time pressure
- Identify the habits that make a workflow easy vs. confusing to pick up cold
- Learn practical naming, structuring, and documentation habits that make handoffs smoother
- Experience a live, collaborative format you can bring back to your own team
